Lush porridge soap review!

I have to admit i'm not a bar soap kind of girl. I love the idea of how different they can be, but I tend to stick to a gel formula because of one main reason; bar soaps dry my skin out, big time!

I don't have super dry skin on my body but every time I use a bar soap I get out of the shower feeling like my skin is dry and tight and there is nothing worse than that! Anyway, I was out and about and went into LUSH to buy something for my sister and ended up looking at their soap bars. After a little chat with the sales assistance, she suggested I try the porridge soap because as we all know oats are grate for dry skin and so many brands today seem to use them to combat dry skin on your body. LUSH describe this soap as a blend of pinhead oats and oatmilk, that nourish the skin and provide some exfoliation due to the knobbly bits of oats. It's a nice mix of natural and syntactic ingredients and has a lovely sweet scent.

I have used this a few times now and although I love how it feels on the skin and I love how it makes my bathroom smell, I have a few issues with it:
1) It is LESS drying than other bar soaps (by LUSH anyway) but it still leaves me with that tight "must moisturize" feeling. And i'm not a fan of that.
2) It creates almost no lather! which I find very strange because it does contain SLS, so it should foam up pretty well.

Overall, it is a nice soap and I love how it feel on the skin but i'm afraid it's still not wow enough to convert me to bar soaps yet.

Have you used it? what bar soaps do you enjoy using?

Nails de jour......

This is just a silly little post about nail polish....The shade i'm wearing is by REVLON and called "Cloudy"  and may I just say, I love it!

It's a ice blue/pale grey/tiny hint of lilac and it's lovely. I like to think of it as one of those shades that is pale but doesn't wash you out, but would look AMAZING with a tan. Here it is:

(Please excuse my chubby little fingers!)

As you can see, it is a pretty icy shade  but it is really nice.....and a treat to apply!

Where is the glamour?!

I'll be the first to admit that since we have moved in to our new house, the glamour factor in my life has pretty much gone out the window. I'm not saying it's the house's fault, and i'm sure many of you can relate to the fact that life is expensive, meaning more bills to pay and less cash to spend on, well, me! Add that to the fact that i'v put a little weight on and it's still pretty grey and cold outside and you have one boring lady!

Truth be told, it's starting to get me down a little, this un-glamorous business. In some ways I do try and always make an effort (both for my sake and for my other half)  and always have perfectly painted nails, smooth skin and perfectly matching underwear (on my not-so-perfect body!) but i'm finding that it's not enough to make me feel glam!

So what's a girl to do? the lazy side of me thinks just chill, but the other side thinks it's time for me to get back on that glamour horse !  and now is also the perfect time because i'm going out tomorrow night for a friends birthday, after not going out in forever so I need all the help I can get! I have already painted my nails red and am planing to give my body a good scrub so it's ready for some fake tan! then it's all about my ultimate glamouse weapons:
High heels & red lipstick!

The power of red nails!

Very few things make me as happy as nail polish does. It's bizarre, I can't explain it but I am addicted to nail polish, I mean what's the point of having nails if you can't cover them in something as girly and pretty as color?

I am a big fan of the shorter nail, which is strange because I remember spending  my teens wishing I had naturally long nails and even had a few occasions of, I hate to admit it,with Fake stick on nails! Never again. I still think long(ish) nails can look good, but only painted with in a natural shade. but short nails in my opinion are just so chic and can rock any color with such ease!

I am all for the timeless class and to me that means red nails. The perfect red nail can make you feel so glamorous, yet polished at the same time. There are so many shades of red polishes out there, it can be hard to nail (Haha get it?) the "one". But as with men, i'm not sure I buy the hole concept of the "one"  simply because there are so many, and they are so different! The one I am wearing on my nails atm is one I bought a few days ago, and when I showed it to my sister she said "Like you need ANOTHER red nail polish!" not understanding that to me, they all have a place in my collection and in my heart. Every woman need a deep, vampy shade  to wear during the winter months when it's cold and grey outside. Another must have red is the glittery "party season" red that can be infused with silver. gold or multi-colored  glitter to add that festive sparkle. Then we have the summer red, that is a kind of combo of coral, red and orange shades that manages to look like summer in a bottle (and looks fab with a tan) And then we have the queen of red, the classic "REVLON" red. This is the shade that looks good no matter what, and is just a true classic.

What is your "Top Red"?
